Congenital Malformations

Cleft lip and palate are congenital malformations that are present from birth and, curiously, both conditions occur more commonly in men than in women.

Cleft lip repair can be carried out once the child weighs 10 kg. or when her medical condition allows it. In the case of cleft palate, the repair must be carried out before two years, mainly between 9 months and a year and a half; being a more technically complicated surgery and aiming to repair the palate for proper speech and eating development.
