Melasma

It is a disorder in the dermis that in most cases occurs in young women and is the brown discoloration of the skin. The exact cause of what causes this condition is unknown, although it has now been discovered that there is a very direct relationship between a lack of estrogens and this disease. It occurs mainly during pregnancy, as well as in women who use contraceptives frequently and those with a lot of sun exposure.

The parts of the body where melasma is most noticeable are:

  • The cheeks and the back of the nose
  • Forehead
  • Chin
  • The lips
